Nimiipuu Fund Team Attends Oweesta Capital Access Convening
Our Loan Officers attended the 2026 Capital Access Convening hosted by Oweesta Corporation on June 2–4, 2026 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. The gathering provided an incredible opportunity to learn about the history, language, art, geography, and enduring connection of the Penobscot Nation and Wabanaki peoples to their homelands while engaging in important conversations shaping the future of Native community development.
Throughout the convening, participants explored some of the most pressing issues facing Native CDFIs today. Topics ranged from expanding pathways to Native homeownership and developing compensation frameworks to strengthening policy advocacy and storytelling efforts that elevate Native voices and experiences.
Industry leaders, practitioners, funders, and policymakers from across Indian Country came together to share knowledge, experiences, and innovative ideas. These discussions reinforced the important role Native CDFIs play in creating access to capital, building assets, and advancing economic self-determination in Tribal communities.
Beyond the educational sessions, our team made meaningful connections with fellow Native CDFIs, funding partners, and policy leaders from across the nation. We return energized and inspired to continue advancing our strategic objectives and mission-driven work serving the Nez Perce Reservation and surrounding communities.

We extend our gratitude to Oweesta Corporation, the host Tribal Nation, and all the presenters and participants who contributed to a powerful week of learning and collaboration.
Together, we continue building pathways to prosperity through Native-led solutions and community-driven development.
